Nexus 7 2013 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 8

VS

The Nexus 7 2013 will be battling against some tablets already in the market from Samsung, Asus, HP and Apple. Although the quality and price comes a bit different with Nexus and the full Android support provided by Google exclusively for Nexus devices.

Today we are going to compare the Nexus 7 2013 with the Galaxy Note 8 N5100

Processor

Galaxy Note 8 - Samsung Exynos Quad 4412

Nexus 7 2 - Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro

The best site for comparing the processors will be CPUBoss. The site gives better rating for the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro (8.8/10) compared to the Samsung Exynos Quad 4412 (8.4/10) . But the CPUBoss gives a better rating for the Exynos Quad based GPU, features, performance and browsing experience. The Exynos has the Mali 400 GPU and the Snapdragon S4 Pro has the Adreno 320 GPU. The gaming experience for both of them finds to be same. But the Adreno 320 which was the same GPU in the Nexus 7 has given a better gaming experience compared to Galaxy Note 2 and Note 10.1 So we can expect a better gaming experience in Nexus 7 2013 compared to Note 8.

Winner- Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro

Battery

Galaxy Note 8 - 23Wh

Nexus 7 2 - 15Wh

We have got a clear winner for battery power - Galaxy Note 8

Display

The Nexus 7 2013 is going to feature a HD display compared to the Galaxy Note 8. Nexus 7 2013 compared to its predecessor will have a pixel density of 323 pixels per inch(ppi) compared to its predecessor which has 216 ppi. While the Galaxy Note 8 has a pixel density of 189 ppi.
The differences in the pixel density would have not been a great matter of fact if both were of different form factors and sizes, instead they would have been of no significance. But both the Nexus 7 2013 and the Galaxy Note 8 are of the same size, so the ppi is really a judgmental factor, which also gives Nexus 7 2013 a upper hand.  We think that the Nexus 7 2013 will be having a better display compared to the Note 8 and the Snapdragon 600 with Adreno GPU will be able to give the display more life and speed.

Resolution of Galaxy Note 8 - 1280x800
Resolution of Nexus 7 2013 - 1920x1200

We have a clear winner !

Winner - Nexus 7 2013

Internal Memory / RAM

Both the Nexus 7 2013 and the Galaxy Note 8 has a 2GB RAM. They both house the best processors in the market so the memory requirement will also be a minimum of 2GB for them to perform as they are expected to.

Winner - Tied

Pros and cons of Galaxy Note 8

Each tablet , Nexus 7 2013 and Galaxy Note 8 seems too have its own wonderful and bad features. Both seems to be good buy. But in the case of price the Nexus 7 will be very cheap with all its great features of a Hi-Fi tablet. The only good think in Galaxy Note 8 is , it has calling facility and as we know, calling someone with your tablet makes you feel like this

So I think the winner is - Nexus 7 2013

  2. Thank you very much, because of your work I just bought the Nexus 7. I know very little about tablets so your easy to understand comparison was very helpful. I bought Nexus with 16 GB and hope that it will be enough for my computer chess games.
